We finally finished the last decorative piece of the baby's room, so here are the pictures!
I did not do a lot of decorating, mainly because of money and space. I knew it would be waaaaay too easy for me to go crazy with baby stuff, so I've been trying to spend the least amount possible! We bought the pack n play and stroller from a friend for $80, I've spent about $15 at Goodwill on clothes, and we bought an enormous elephant for $20. Everything else we got from showers, family, and gift cards!
So I also tried to keep it cheap with decorating. I was originally going to paint the room light yellow, but the original gold (there when we moved in) matched the bedding perfectly, so I didn't bother. It is a very harsh color, so I tried to do mostly white decorations to soften it.
I saw a picture of an open frame with letters on pinterest. I bought the biggest letters Michael's had, and Josh made the frame out of molding. I cannot remember exactly how much it cost, but I know it was under $20. (5 letters, molding, spray paint)
The bedding is from Target. I think I picked it out the day I found out I was pregnant and couldn't sleep. I've always had a thing for bedding, so that was really fun. I wanted modern, gender neutral, and white based so I could use white sheets. I also love polka dots!
And the huge elephant. I wanted a large stuffed animal for monthly growth pictures, and was actually having a hard time finding one I liked. We saw this guy and Sam's Club and I loved it. He's way too big, but it'll work.
Pom Poms are also all over pinterest. I made these Goodwill T-shirt pom poms using this tutorial. Hers look so much better, I think because I made mine too big. But I think if you haven't seen hers mine are pretty cute :)
I tried to garage sale a dresser/changing table, but had no luck. Josh's parents bought this one for us. The panels are reversible, so it doesn't always have to look like kids' furniture. Some of you may be thinking it would have made sense to get white to match the crib, but Josh despises painted furniture and wood will be more versatile for future use.
I bought some frames from Goodwill and painted them white. They will go above the changing table with pictures with parents and grandparents.
My Grandma made this blue painting which had been hanging in our guest bedroom. It also helps soften the gold.
This lazy boy was also in our guest bedroom, but should get a lot more use now!
On to the space issue. You would think that a three bedroom house would be plenty for two adults and a baby, but we have managed to fill every corner.
She currently has to share her closet, though that may change when I can pack up my maternity clothes.
And she will be sharing her room with my craft area. Normally I will have a card table set up and my craft stuff more organized/accessible, but right now it is shoved in a corner to make room for that tan arm chair. The arm chair will eventually go back into the living room where the swing is now.
And the swing will go in front of the front door where the Christmas tree is now.
Her room used to be a craft room/study, so now the guest bedroom is a guest bedroom/study/Josh's hobby room.
I think our problem might be too many hobbies!
